What is TMJ?
TMJ is a neuromuscular condition where your bite is misaligned. TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint disorder.
How do I know if I have TMJ?
TMJ has many symptoms, and those symptoms will appear and disappear in various combinations and degrees of severity over time.
TMJ Symptoms include, but aren’t limited to:

- Jaw clicking
- Neck pain

How is TMJ diagnosed?
It requires jaw measurements, computer modeling of your bite pattern, and X-Rays of your jaw structure. Only certain types of dentists are specially trained to diagnose TMJ.
What type of dentist can diagnose TMJ?
TMJ requires extensive training to properly diagnose and treat your jaw. The number one cosmetic dental school in the country is the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). How is TMJ treated?
Custom-made mouth guards, invisible orthodontics, oral surgery or other “full mouth rejuvenation” techniques are used, depending upon the symptoms and their severity in your specific condition.
What is neuromuscular dentistry?
Neuromuscular dentistry takes the health and positioning of your jaw into account during every treatment or procedure you receive. A neuromuscular dentist will make sure that your TMJ is correctly aligned no matter what dentistry procedure you are undergoing.
