With all the tricks and treats that Halloween brings about, it does not need to be a scary time for our teeth. With sweets all around during this time of year, orthodontists and dentists typically have one of the busiest weeks of the year following Halloween. By following a few simple tips, you can avoid the hassle of a dental emergency and still enjoy all that this holiday has to offer.

In order to keep your smile beautiful and healthy this season, keep the following in mind:

  • Avoid stick situations –  Do your best to avoid indulging in treats that are hard, sitcky, crunchy, or chewy, as they can do some serious damage to your teeth, current treatment, or existing dental work. Try to stick to softer treats such as chocolate, peppermint patties, or one of the many other  easy-to-eat varieties.
  • Practice moderation – There is nothing wrong with treating yourself with a treat this season, however, try and fight the temptation to binge on candy to help cut down on sugar.
  • Brush and floss – This is an important part of good dental hygiene. It is especially critical that you don’t skip your brushing and flossing after exposing your teeth to cavity-causing treats.

If you happen to damage your dental work this Halloween, please contact Drs. Chin   Dentistry as soon as possible by calling (702) 445-7075. Minor problems are typically a quick fix, and major problems should be treated sooner than later.

From our Las Vegas dentistry family to yours, we wish you a safe and Happy Halloween!
